Our story

HiPPi was born on the UK’s North Norfolk coast, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with sand and shingle beaches, salt marshes and mudflats and Britain’s largest protected wetland, the Norfolk Broads.

Its frontline position in the face of rising sea levels, climate change and marine pollution presents challenging environmental issues. Our communities are aware of the fragility of their landscapes, striving to find effective strategies to conserve the biodiversity, unique bird and wildlife species and the quality of this peaceful environment.

Our name was inspired by the nomadic populations that have inhabited this deep history coastline for close to one million years, with footprints from Europe’s earliest known humans, artefacts from Roman, Norman and Viking invasions and fossils from the mammoths, hyenas and other early species that drew hunters to its estuary mudflats. Today it attracts seals, otters, red deer and migratory flocks from the rarest breeding birds to wildfowl, waders and gulls.

We remain a small family business, without pressure from external investors, leaving us able to carefully source and control the quality of our products to remain true to the values and ethics that we promote.
